Mimi's First Christmas

Mimi and her cousin Oriana finally got to meet for the first time! They had so much fun cooing to each other and trying to bite each other's hands and feet! Needless to say, the babies definitely got more than enough attention and love over Christmas. My dad called as soon as he got home from Nashville and said he was already having baby withdrawals!

This is most of the Nixon clanMimi is obsessed with her feet now -- it seems to be a reflex for her feet to fly into the air (or in her mouth!) as soon as we place her on her back.
Why, yes, that is "The Singing Bee" game in the background! I love it! But I'm sure no one else loves hearing me sing . . .
Christmas Eve was spent with the Darbys, and Mimi slept through the opening of all her presents.

4 Months Old

Mimi turned four months old on Monday, and we took her to the pediatrician today for a check-up and shots (wah!). She is weighing in at a whopping 13lbs 2oz and is 23 3/4" long. After the check-up, we were so excited to bring Mimi home and make our first attempt at feeding her rice cereal! Needless to say, it was a failure . . . but we had fun trying!

Mimi's First Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving day with my parents in Corinth and Friday with the Darbys in Germantown, and Mimi got more attention than Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt combined! Our main objective for the holiday was not to see who could eat the most turkey but to compete to see who could get Mimi to smile or squeal . . . and she did plenty of both!

JR is crazy about his cousin Mimi! He wanted to hold her and kiss her all day!

Ruthie was even invited to the Nixon Thanksgiving festivities, but as you can tell, she got herself into a little trouble . . .

How do I fix my blog? It's tacky because I did something wrong when I changed the background.

Pepperoni Pizza Head

So Clint has given our child a new name -- Pepperoni Pizza Head. We were eating pizza one night while Mimi was chilling in her swing, and Mimi smiled every time we said Pepperoni Pizza! Now Clint calls her Pepperoni Pizza Head, and she thinks it's so funny!

This is Mimi's new coat -- it has swallowed her head!!
Mimi and Spike are becoming friends -- he knows she will be sharing Cheerios with him before too long!

Mimi has an adorable little cousin, Oriana, who was born 5 weeks before Mimi. They haven't been able to meet because Oriana lives in California (my brother and his wife are finishing school at UC Davis). Right now, Oriana and her mom Melina are in Peru visiting Melina's family, BUT they will be coming to Tennessee for Christmas!! We can't wait to meet this sweet little bundle, and I know my brother is ready to have them home again!
Oriana was only a few weeks old in this photo

Now she is much bigger!

Halloween and my new trick

Mimi is now 14 weeks old, and she has finally mastered rolling over from her belly to her back! The day before I started back to work she rolled over three times in a row, but didn't do it again for about a week. Now I try to put her on her belly to play and she immediately flips over on her back!

On her belly . . .

. . . almost over . . .

. . . now on her back!

She's still not happy about the car seat!

12 weeks old

Mimi turned 12 weeks old on Friday, which meant I had to start back to work. She had a great time at Christ Methodist, and I pretended to have a good time going back to work! Honestly, my day flew by, and it was nice to catch up with the offices I call on (and show off baby pictures!). I loved picking her up at the end of the day -- absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder!

She loves being naked!
We went to church with my parents in Corinth on Sunday (although it looks like we were attending a funeral in all black!).

Mimi LOVES putting on this outfit because it is so bright and colorful -- she smiles every time she sees it (shout out to Jordan).
Her cousin JR was kissing her! He loves Mimi!

Mimi is hanging out with Dad trying to learn all about the mortgage business . . . she seems as interested as I do.
Last week we visited my sister and her kids in Nashville, and Mimi loved them. Her cousin Nicholas read a bedtime story to her every night and she was so fascinated with him!
This is Mimi after a bath -- she was so happy (and so was her silly dad!).

10 weeks olds

Mimi and her cousin Olivia (practicing her babysitting skills).

Clint is trying to teach Mimi about X Box early. He has decided that he can give her a controller and make her think she is playing, and this should entertain her for hours . . . yeah, right.

Her bunny towel.

Mimi is seeing the world from a different angle now -- in her Bumbo chair. She acts so surprised as soon as she gets in the chair and turns her head from side to side quickly trying to take everything in from this new view.

Mimi's First Vacation

Since Mimi has been working so hard eating, sleeping, and staring at the ceiling fan, we decided to take her to Santa Rosa Beach for a few days to relax. Although we slathered her in SPF 50, made her wear a goofy hat, and strapped her in a carseat for 10 hours, I still think she had a great time.
