Mimi's first trip

Since Clint had to go out of town for a couple of days, Mimi and I went to my parents' house in Corinth. It was so nice to be home and have Mom make pancakes and help out with the baby. My dad was excited for Mimi to see the horses and his garden, and I'm sure he was happy to show her off around town.

Mimi has on her horse gown (and I have really bad hair!)

I've taken way too many pictures today . . .

I cannot put the camera down -- Mimi is so stinking cute I feel like I have to take a picture of everything! I've heard this wears off, but right now I'm convinced I need to have my camera ready for every kick, sneeze, and gassy expression!
Why yes, Mimi is practicing her "touchdown" move since Ole Miss might finally get a few this year with a new coach!
This carseat is ridiculous. I have taken up the strap as much as possible, and I'm still afraid her head is going to fall off when we make turns or go over bumps!

. . . and this video proves that she is the smartest baby alive. Not only does she kick and grunt, but she also yawns. Amazing, I know.

On being parents . . .

We were able to go home on Sunday afternoon, and we're becoming more comfortable with not having a nurse button to push!  Mimi definitely isn't on any type of schedule, but she is eating, sleeping, and pooping -- that's all we can expect of her.  One of my biggest concerns was how our other daughter, Ruthie, was going to react to no longer being the baby, BUT she has been wonderful!  She is very curious and will sniff around, but keeps a safe distance.  She seems very calm around Mimi, doesn't bark quite as much, and is even being a little protective.

This is Mimi in her sling that her Aunt Jordan bought for her -- she loves it, and it is going to be such a convenience for me.  I've already been able to load the dishwasher and wash two loads of clothes while having her in the sling.

And we think her little booty is pretty cute -- she's so tiny!!

Mimi has arrived!

Emilia Claire Darby arrived Friday, August 1st, at 2:41 PM.  She weighed 5 lbs and 10 oz and was 19" long -- she's little but very strong!  The delivery went really well and I am recovering quickly.  We want to thank everyone for all your prayers, phone calls, and visits -- we are so blessed to have so much support.  Needless to say, we are absolutely in love!!
